Construction of a labour ward.
Modernization begins under Dr. Karl Schöpf. New St. Francis Hospital officially opened in 1960.
Opening of Nazareti Leprosy Hospital; major national reforms take place.
Designated District Hospital for Kilombero and Ulanga Districts.
